DOWA (Doing Good Work in Africa) started as a 501c3 non-profit organization in 2020 during the pandemic. DOWA is a free internship placement program for self-motivated, forward-thinking students who seek internships that provide diverse, experiential learning opportunities in high-impact, innovative sectors in Africa, contributing towards developing tech-enabled solutions to improve the quality of life of 2 billion people in emerging markets.
In addition to DOWA interns engaging in beneficial learnings from innovators which can be tied to the intern’s formal education program through integrated coursework or the receipt of academic credit, the DOWA initiative ensures access to development opportunities such as ongoing mentorship, cultural immersion, personal and professional development sessions.
