The internship significantly contributed to my professional and personal development. As regards my professional development, I gained a range of soft and hard skills, which are effective written and verbal communication skills, problem-solving skills, teamwork, research, and planning and organisation skills. Also, I learned how to use accounting software-Quickbooks- for accounting functions, and improved my excel and Microsoft suite skills.
My personal development was enhanced through learning key insights from the internship. One of the key insights I learned is to be proactive in every environment I find myself in, which is crucial to maximising opportunities and making meaningful contributions. Also, I learned to have a positive attitude of taking ownership of tasks and responsibilities. This is so useful in helping me to develop my leadership and problem solving skills, and consequently enhance my employability. Furthermore, I learned to be open-minded to acquire new perspectives and be a good team player.
DOWA internship was genuinely transformative for me. It gave me a positive mindset shift about my perception of Nigeria and the Africa continent as regards the opportunities and potential available. Also, it was really exploratory by giving me the opportunity to know new places and connect with people from various walks of life. Furthermore, the DOWA internship provided me with the fundamental skills and knowledge to further build my career and become a better person wherever I find myself.

Professionally, it enhanced my skills in social media content creation, storytelling, and strategic communication, all of which are crucial in today's digital landscape. I learned how to tailor content to different audiences, focus on key program goals, and analyze engagement metrics, which improved my understanding of data-driven decision-making. Personally, the experience strengthened my time management, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities, especially when facing challenges like the inability to verify account credentials for the final project. Overall, the internship broadened my communication and organizational skills, preparing me for future roles.
My time at DOWA has been a valuable experience, helping me develop skills in social media strategy and storytelling. I learned how digital platforms can raise awareness and promote inclusivity while creating engaging content. I'm deeply grateful to both DOWA and Kaltani for this transformative experience, and for the chance to connect with students from diverse backgrounds.
